Legal Medical Marijuana Finally Sold In Arkansas
The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act, Issue 6 went into effect on Nov. 9, 2016, but the first medical marijuana was sold on Friday after 2 years of hiccups and slowdowns.
Arkansas’ MMC received over 200 dispensary applications in which the commission hired a Boston consultant to review and grade each applicant. The Medical Marijuana Commission then pushed back meetings that were set to give dispensary licenses. That was unfortunately followed by legal hang-ups and licensing hiccups.
There are over 11,000 registered patients but only 2 dispensaries have opened up to help and serve patients. Doctors Orders RX had a soft opening on Saturday and Green Springs Medical had their grand opening on Sunday. Both faced long wait times and unhappy patients that were unable to receive their medical cannabis.
